Greenpoint Loft

Some venues need a lot of decorating. Greenpoint Loft mostly needs you to show up. The old rope factory in Greenpoint, right next to Williamsburg, still has its weathered brick, peeling paint and giant factory windows, plus a rooftop with one of the clearest views of the Manhattan skyline you'll find anywhere in Brooklyn.

It suited this couple perfectly. They were easygoing from the first minute, more interested in enjoying the day with their family and closest friends than in getting every detail just right, and it shows in every photo.

We started with portraits against the old brick walls. The bride carried a bouquet of wildflowers in deep reds, yellows and purples that looked amazing with her soft, layered gown, and her bridesmaids wore mismatched shades of blue next to the groomsmen in navy.

The ceremony took place under a birch chuppah wrapped in the same bold flowers, with sunlight pouring in through the skylights and garlands of greenery hanging from the beams. Their officiant brought along a guitar, which set the tone for a ceremony that felt warm and personal instead of formal.

Right before sunset we slipped up to the roof. With the Empire State Building glowing across the East River and that classic New York water tower standing over the deck, it's hard to take a bad picture up there. Back downstairs the string lights came on, the band started playing and their friends lifted them up on chairs. We finished the night back on the roof under the lights, with the whole city sparkling behind them.
